NanoPC T6 Android 12 audio dropouts

The NanoPC T6 with Android tablet or TV builds generally plays videos OK but I get a lot of audio dropouts. Playing in Kodi, using HDMI and passthrough to a Yamaha AVR. The problem seems to be worse with 4K HEVC than with H.264. It also seems to be worse if subtitles are enabled, or any other Kodi UI elements are being drawn over the video. Has anyone else encountered this? It seems like this might be something that could be fixed by using larger buffers for the audio data; as if the CPU is too busy drawing UI elements to keep the audio fed properly. Any ideas how to fix this?

Plain AC3 seems to have no troubles. EAC3, TrueHD all get disrupted by any other UI activity, even drawing subtitles seems to cause it.

Plain AC3 appears to be trouble-free. Any additional UI activity, even generating subtitles, appears to impair EAC3 and TrueHD.

I have the same problem. I've tried updating to a v21 kodi release and it seems to help; I also don't seem to have as bad of a problem with Jellyfin, but yeah I'm getting the same dropouts.
I get a similar dropout playing music when the visualizer changes modes.

I left things idle for a few months but just installed the latest (2024-8-19) image and everything seems to be working well now.
I played some Dolby TrueHD stuff and had no dropouts. No idea when this was fixed but it's ok now. Also using Kodi 21.1 now instead of 20.5.

I hadn’t tested for a while, but after installing the latest (2024-08-19) build,
simownersdetails.pk
everything seems stable again. Tried playing Dolby TrueHD and no dropouts so far.
Not sure in which update it got fixed, but it’s fine now.

I’ve run into similar audio dropouts on the T6 with 4K HEVC + subtitles. Feels like a buffering/CPU load issue. Maybe tweaking buffer settings or trying a lighter Kodi skin could help?

I’ve seen similar issues on Android 12 with NanoPC T6. In my case, audio dropouts mostly happened on 4K HEVC when subtitles were enabled. Disabling passthrough and increasing the Kodi audio buffer in advancedsettings.xml reduced the problem a lot. You might also want to try lowering the UI resolution or disabling heavy overlays, since it seems CPU/GPU load makes the dropouts worse.

After updating to a recent Android 12 build on the NanoPC T6, I started noticing intermittent audio dropouts when playing 4K HDR content, especially with DTS-HD passthrough enabled. Video playback stays smooth, but the audio cuts out briefly every few minutes. The issue seems more noticeable when subtitles are active or when using heavier Kodi skins. I’m wondering if this is related to buffering, CPU load, or audio passthrough handling, and whether there are recommended settings to stabilize playback.

does the new image completely fix the dropouts even when PGS/graphical subtitles are active? That's where my current setup struggles the most (stuttering every time a sub line appears)
