Mediatek mt7925e on FriendlyElec NanoPC-T6 LTS
Firmware Version OpenWrt 24.10.4 r28959-29397011cc / LuCI openwrt-24.10 branch 25.352.07125~0723bef
Kernel Version 6.1.141

Hello! And thank you for your time reading this.

I am quite new to the topic, but I read some other topics on the official forum of openwrt for the MT7925 wifi module and that did not bring me any further than it has before.

As you could imagine, I tried to install the Mediatek MT7925 module on the device. I still hope I can get some help here.

I want to use it as AP instead of my separate AP I use right now.

I startet installing the packages via the luci software tab (after updating the package lists):

kmod-mt7925-common 6.6.110.2025.09.15~6467af3b-r1 46.75 KiB MediaTek MT7925 wireless driver common code
kmod-mt7925-firmware 6.6.110.2025.09.15~6467af3b-r1 1.23 MiB MediaTek MT7925 firmware
kmod-mt7925e 6.6.110.2025.09.15~6467af3b-r1 6.52 KiB MediaTek MT7925e wireless driver

it showed me 3 radios then under the network → wireless tab, but they show as

Generic unknown
Device is not active

So I pushed the latest firmware files via scp into the firmware/mediatek folder:

BT_RAM_CODE_MT7925_1_1_hdr.bin

WIFI_MT7925_PATCH_MCU_1_1_hdr.bin

WIFI_RAM_CODE_MT7925_1_1.bin

That brought no change either.

lspci | grep 7925

0003:31:00.0 Network controller: MEDIATEK Corp. Device 7925

lsusb

Bus 005 Device 003: ID 0e8d:7925 MediaTek Inc. Wireless_Device

(probably the bluetooth device?)

dmesg | grep mt

[ 11.859681] usbcore: registered new interface driver mt76x2u
[ 11.862339] usbcore: registered new interface driver mt7921u

To be quite honest, I am a bit overwhelmed by the topic. But I am able to read and to learn. If you want more information, I can provide that, if you give me the commands or the position in luci to collect them.

Thank you for any help you can provide!
